Obituary for Gilbert Alvin Henry Krueger
On Thursday, July 13, 2017, Gilbert Alvin Henry Krueger, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great
grandfather and beloved friend, passed away peacefully at his family home in Kilgore Community in
Goliad County, at the age of 82. Gilbert was born to the late Otto and Helena Hausmann Krueger on November 16, 1934, in Beeville, Texas. He married his lifelong love, Doris Black Krueger, on November 30, 1952, and they lived their lives together, raising their family on the Krueger family land that was settled in 1872. Being of service was important to Gilbert, and throughout his years he served his church as a Sunday School and Confirmation Teacher, and Church Council member. He always enjoyed talking and visiting with family, friends, and everyone he met. Gilbert was also an outdoorsman and enjoyed coon hunting with his best coon dog, Boots, who together won many trophies over the years. And he loved working cattle on his best cow-horse, Apache, with his cow-dog Queenie right by their side. Away from home, Gilbert was a skilled craftsman and worked for DW Marshall Construction, Don Krueger Construction for16 years, and for the Victoria Independent School District for over 20 years as a millshop foreman. Gilbert never let a moment pass that he didn’t show his love and dedication to his family, his friends, his church, and his community.
His love and kindness will forever be remembered by his loving wife of 64 years, Doris; son Alvin Krueger (Judy); daughters Katie Martin, Nita Krueger, Twila Wendel, Linda Garcia (Okie); niece Elaine Sievers (Arlis); grandchildren Clara Karnei, Chris Krueger (Lisa), Matthew Wendel (Kristin), David Krueger (Tara), Melissa Karnei, Vivian Potter, Heather Thomas, Kira Mudd (Jess), Robert Thomas (Ashley); 15 great grandchildren.
He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, Otto and Helena, stepmother Matilda Doeherman Krueger, son David Mathew Krueger, son-in-law Mark Wendel, sister and brother-in-law Josephine and Fritz Berger, sister and brother-in-law Lenora and Clarence Moritz, and sister-in-law and brother Emily and Alois
Krueger.
Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects on Monday, July 17, 2017 starting at 9:00 am – 3:00 pm at Grace Funeral Home – Victoria, 2401 Houston Highway Victoria, Texas, and then a visitation will be beginning at 5:00 pm, at Zion Lutheran Church of MissionValley, 12183 FM 236, Victoria, Texas. A Prayer Service will follow at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Service in memory of Gilbert will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 10:00 am at Zion Lutheran Church of Mission Valley, 12183 FM 236, Victoria, Texas. Burial to follow at Kilgore Community Cemetery, 412 Kilgore Road, Goliad, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Erald Albrecht, Ray Albrecht, Gerald Griffith, Alvin DeForest, Shannon DeForest, and Marshall Henson. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Albrecht, Glenn Karnei, the Grandchildren, the Great Grandchildren, and dearest friends.
