ZOILA ORTIZ RINCON

1921 ~ 2016

Victoria—Zoila “Mama Gus” Ortiz Rincon, 95, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016. She was born in DaCosta on June 27, 1921 to Catarino and Refugia Ortiz. Zoila was the Matriarch of the Rincon Family.

Survivors include daughters, Veronica Garcia (Jimmy) of Houston, Janie Martinez (Louis) of Victoria, Beatrice Wallace (Herky) of Brookshire, Maria Short (Timothy) of Katy, Magdalena “Maggie” Rincon of Victoria, Martha “ Marti” Ceballos (Leonard) of Victoria; sons, David Rincon (Barbara) of Seattle, WA., Martin Rincon (Lynette) of Brookshire and C. Matthew Rincon (Patricia) of Dallas; brother, Frank Ortiz of Victoria; 31 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two husbands, Gustavo Rincon and Arturo Chavez; a daughter, Irma Rivera; eight sisters and eight brothers.

Visitation services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Grace Memorial Chapel (formerly Heritage Funeral Home) 8819 US Hwy, Victoria. A rosary will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 12:30 pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with a Mass to follow at 1 pm with Father Jasper Liggio officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery

Pallbearers are Gustavo Martinez, Steffan Rincon, Louis Martinez IV, Louis Martinez V, Jacob Sanchez, Jason Sanchez and Manuel Galvan, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Mario Rivera, Xzavion Martinez, Thaddeaus Short, Matthew Short, John Trevino, Jr., Isaac Mahan, Jr., Charles Rincon, Richard Rincon, Danny Rincon, Joshua Martinez, Drew Danford-Rincon and Alex Danford-Rincon.

A special thank you to Retama Manor South and all the previous home health care providers for their loving care and support of our Mom.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be made to Retama Manor South Activity Dept.
