EDWARD PERRY MORROW

1927 ~ 2016

Edward Perry Morrow, 89, of Columbus, passed away on October, 3, 2016. He was born May 13, 1927 in Kingsville, Texas to Perry Banks Morrow and Marguerite Byrnes Morrow. He met Darleen Charlotte Litz at Patti Welder High School in Victoria. They married on April 5, 1947 and together they raised three daughters, Jennifer Charlotte, Peggy Elaine and Kathleen Perry.

Ed was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army at Camp Hood and Fort Ord. He had many various careers throughout his lifetime including his owning both the Morrow Feed Lot and the Ed Morrow Truck Line in Goliad, Texas. He hauled cattle from Texas across the states as far as California and Florida. Quite the salesman, he sold MoorMan feed, cars for various dealerships in the Goliad and Victoria area, insurance for American General and he was one of the first people to buy and sell Gooseneck trailers. Ed was also a carpenter, a handy man, a picker, an antique trader, a domino player, a trot line-runner and a Western movie watcher. He and Darleen spent their marriage purchasing and restoring homes; thus, they moved quite often. They lived everywhere: Victoria, Goliad, Mico, Wellborn, College Station, Bryan, Madisonville, Bedias, Austin, Georgetown, Smithville, Trinity, Sheridan and some small town in Colorado no one wants to remember.

Ed is survived by daughter, Jennifer Hoelscher of Weimar, daughter, Peggy Stockton of Cypress, daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Tommy Byrd of Somerville; grandchildren: Leisha McCarty (Jeff) Mamera of Houston, Carrie Stockton (David) Westfall of Cypress, Lyndon (Michelle) McCarty of Dripping Springs, Linc (Kristin) Stockton of Cypress and Brandon (Priscilla) Whiteaker of McAllen; sisters: Bobbie (Speck) Phillips and Dana Brandt; thirteen beloved great-grandchildren and a slew of Morrow cousins. He is preceded in death by his wife, Darleen, parents, Perry and Marguerite, grandson, Brady Whiteaker, sons-in-law, David Hoelscher and Bob Stockton and sister, Nancy White.

Memorial donations may be made to the Save Texas History project or the Victoria Food Bank.
