RAMON ESTRADA, SR.

1932 ~ 2016

Placedo- Ramon Estrada, Sr., 84, of Placedo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016. He was born on February 25, 1932 in McAllen, Texas to Felipe Estrada and Oliva Jasso Ochoa.
Ramon served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was known as the “Best Pool Player in the South”. He was a softball coach and a Little League baseball coach.

Ramon is survived by his wife of 42 years, Guadalupe Estrada of Placedo; sons, Ramon “Chuck” Estrada, Jr. of McAllen, Jaime Ledezma of San Diego, California and Emilio Ledezma (Vero) of Bloomington; daughters, Zulema Guzman (Johnny) of McAllen, Marisol Alaniz of McAllen, Aracely Gregg (Chris) of League City, Monica Gonzales (Robert) of Victoria, Olivia Soliz (Jesse) of Placedo and Erika Cabrera (Jerry) of Bloomington; nephew, Steven Garcia (Karla) of Port Lavaca; 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Ramon is preceded in death by his parents, Felipe and Olivia Jasso Ochoa; sister, Elia Garcia; sons, Erik Estrada and Carlos Ledezma.

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. and rosary to follow at 7:00 P.M. at Grace Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Samuel Appiasi officiating.

Rite of Committal will follow at Resurrection cemetery with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, EX-POW, MOPH, VVA, and KWV.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Guzman, Erik Hernandez, Emilio Ledezma, Jaime Ledezma, Jesse Cisneros, Danny Hernandez, Jerry Cabrera, Ramon “Chuck” Estrada, Jr. and Robert Gonzales.
