Obituary for Eugene "Sonny" Srubar
EUGENE “SONNY” SRUBAR
1947 ~ 2016
Victoria- Eugene “Sonny” Srubar, 69, of Victoria, Texas, went to see the Lord after a 2 and a half year battle with Leukemia on Friday, August 19, 2016. He was born on February 4, 1947 in Yoakum, Texas to Eddie John and Annie Mary Opela Srubar.
Sonny was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, barbecuing and joking with his grandchildren. He was a great husband, father and grandfather.
Sonny is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gail Srubar; daughter, Melissa Srubar Vidrine and her husband David Vidrine; sisters, Mary Ann Srubar Sawyer and her husband Dr. Richard Sawyer and Evelyn Srubar Huntley; grandchildren, Lane Meade and Lillie Meade; numerous nieces and nephews.
Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Stacy Srubar Scranton; sister, Josephine “JoJo” Srubar Cummings; brothers, Leon, Edwin and Bobby Joe Srubar.
The family will receive friends and family for a visitation on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Grace Funeral Home.
Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Albert Yankey officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Sawyer, Bob Huntley, Richard Huntley, Kenneth Srubar, Dennis Srubar, Rodger Srubar, Michael Srubar and Ronald Cummings. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Mallette, W.J. Sparks, III., Mark Dierlam and Jeff Lemmons.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of South Texas or M.D. Anderson Leukemia Society Foundation, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030.
